I taught one of the kindergartners how to tie his shoes a few days ago, not thinking much of it. Yesterday, with great pride and excitement, he told me he had practiced it ovah and ovah, and now he can do it himself.
While, he's no pro, I don't know which one of us was more excited.
If you teach a man to fish, you will feed him for a lifetime. If you teach a boy to tie his shoes, he will feel accomplished and capable. And you will have one less pair of shoes to tie every five minutes.
