Conversations

"Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." - Colossians 4:6

"With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so." - James 3:9-10

Last night, we talked about the tongue and the terrible and wonderful things we use it for, especially us gossip-loving, word-filled girls who are obsessed with this thing called talking. And we go around and around wanting to do better but struggling all the same.
Then tonight at dinner, we got into this conversation about the ridiculousness of legalism that ties down countless (unnamed) denominations and the pettiness of arguing over topics and rules that Christ could have cared less about.
And I was reminded of the blessing of friendship, deep meaningful conversation.
What an encouragement to not mince words but speak wisely and purposefully.
